My name is April and I’m an American woman from the West. For over a decade, I have been married to Joseph, a Palestinian Refugee from the East.
As we navigate the complexities of the world today and embrace the joys of raising our nine-month old son, I've felt a growing desire to share our journey. Many of you have asked, encouraged, and expressed curiosity about the life we've built together, coming from vastly different backgrounds. It is with your encouragement and a personal drive to document our experiences that I begin this series of posts on "Cultural Crossroads."
Our story is woven from threads of unconditional love, continuous learning, relearning, and unlearning, all intertwined with tears and laughter.
It's also about overcoming obstacles and embracing each other's cultures in a world that can often seem divided. Especially now.
Joseph and I have learned so much from each other, and every day with our son is a new chapter in a life that feels incredibly rich and complex. We are the lucky ones, the ones that should have never been. For our paths to have crossed, and intersected, was quite nearly impossible.
In these posts, I'll explore the initial allure that drew Joseph and me together, the cultural shocks we've navigated, the discoveries we've shared, and the love that holds us together, transcending all borders.
From our first meeting to the everyday moments that define our family life, I look forward to taking you on this personal and universal journey. Thank you for joining us at this intersection of cultures, stories, and lives. This is more than our story—it's a celebration of the beauty and challenges that come with living in a multicultural marriage and how it reflects broader global interactions.
Love you both. Looking forward to reading more 💕
You guys are so beautiful together ❤️❤️
